Manfred Michl
Manfred Michl is concerned with the change in the relationship between humans and animals. He is interested in animal motifs in religious contexts and animals that have created their own habitat in the city.
The motifs (templates) for his drawings are photos and film clips from his immediate surroundings, as well as animals in the wild, domestic animals, farm animals, stuffed animals in natural history museums and hunting animals are sources of his inspiration.
Photos and film clips not only serve as templates for his drawings, they can also become independent works.
The finished images are juxtaposed to make connections visible, or to be able to see where the individual works differ from each other. This creates a formal language that shows different perspectives on the subject, but does not evaluate them, but rather allows them to coexist on an equal footing.
